[theqoo] THE REASON INTERNATIONAL FANS VIEW HOMMAS WITH HUGE CAMERAS STRANGELY

Homma = fansite

Before starting, I just want to clarify that I'm not trying to justify nor defend violence
International fans (especially those from USA) are holding a strong hate against a part of the hommas. The friction between them didn't only arise from the incident a few days ago.
It is very unfortunate that the conflict has grown and even built up to physical friction. Why is there such a big dislike? I think it is necessary to understand the perspective of American fans or culture, so I am writing to explain it.

First of all, those are the things you guys should know:
1. There's no DSLR camera culture in the US
2. There's such things as paparazzi in the US
3. Usually, in the US, due to copyright laws, they would ban big cameras (they allow filming through phones)
4. In the US, even commoners can easily carry firearms

First of all, because there are no DSLR culture in the US, whether you go to a concert onsite or you're watching the fancam of the concert, you usually just watch or film with a cellphone
So to them, seeing hommas is just unfamiliar

They would hide themselves when shooting things

This is why they say it's the equivalent of paparazzi
From the fans' perspective, they cannot understand why people would come to a concert to take pictures rather than to enjoy the performance
And there are quite a lot of accounts from people being beaten by the cameras wielded by the hommas who were so preoccupied with filming, or people who were interrupted from watching the performance.
You may think that this case appeared since the full-fledged US tour started, but this has been an issue for several years already.
If you go to an offline event in Korea, there are quite a lot of idol fans who have their sights obstructed, their seats taken away, and got into physical collisions because of hommas. So you can think that this is their equivalent

There were a lot of accounts from people getting hit by hommas cameras this concert

And these are from 2 year ago, at the Wembley stadium. Just being next to a camera can become a hindrance to the concert experience

Another important factor is security
In the US, they demand to strictly confirm to the rules regarding the things you can carry in your bag as well. So the fans would prepare transparent bags like these purposefully for the concerts security check

Of course, this is because US is a country that allows you to carry firearm

There is an inspection at the entrance, so how is it possible to bring a camera?
In the past, a certain homma (probably Chinese?) said to bring it in like this and posted a picture of it, which shocked a lot of people
I think the antipathy for bringing in something that is forbidden in this way for any reason is immense.

original post: here

1. So they're hitting us because we look unfamiliar

2. So stop liking KPOP

3. And fundamentally, KPOP fans have all consumed hommas pictures, that's why they're there. So to say that they're still unfamiliar with homma culture is even weirder

4. Me too, I've been hit by a homma's camera in a concert in Korea before so I get disgusted by them when I see them now

5. Meanwhile, they're still praising their pictures, hilarious

6. But there are also international hommas now, so what's up with the hate?

7. To be honest, I'm embarrassed

8. But the first picture is from a commoner on Twitter, not a homma;

9. But didn't they also assault people for just looking Asian and not holding cameras too?

10. But they're ok with white hommas and black hommas, what a damn irony^^

11. The issue here isn't the fact that they're assaulting hommas with DSLRs, they're only doing this towards Asian hommas. They're just justifying themselves by saying we look unfamiliar, but we all know why they truly do that

12. I know that there are a lot of people who hate hommas, but I want to ask you, would you really be able to fangirl as much if not for hommas pictures and videos?

13. Ah.. and now I'm getting disgusted by them because of that

14. I'm really wonder if OP isn't trying to shield a certain group of people by writing this post? I'm just curious

15. If they really thought this was problematic, they would also assault international hommas too, but they're only doing this towards Asian hommas
