Once again, we bring you what's been trending on Pann this year!
AGAIN, we repeat this every year, but Pann is a branch of Nate =/= the entire population of Korea. Hence, take everything you read here with a grain of salt ;)
This year again, Pann has been serving good tea to entertain us all, but who were the ones who created a buzz from "just breathing"?!😵😵
DISCLAIMER: PLEASE don't get offended if your faves aren't on our list, again, we repeat, Pann =/= the whole Korean population, and this is from what we've seen from reading Pann everyday 💦💦

1. Top trending boy groups (in no particular order)
Wanna One
From an international POV, this might seem random or come as a shock to most international fans, but they have been THE top group of Korea alongside BTS this year. Aside from the records and results they've achieved as a rookie, they have been at the center of enter-talk the ENTIRE year. Thanks to their hectic schedules, their posts were pretty much trending EVERYDAY
BTS
It is safe (and maybe controversial to some) to say that they're pretty much the #1 boy band in Korea right now. Pann aside, BTS and Wanna One's articles have been DOMINATING Naver daily rankings E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y (which is a more representative depiction of Korean's general public) . There was not a single day that BTS or Wanna One wasn't trending. Again, thanks to their heavy schedules. On Pann, the general sentiment has been overwhelming positive for BTS (which is REALLY surprising to say the least! We're talking about Pann afterall 😅)
STRONG CANDIDATES
EXO
This might come as a shock again to most international fans, but due to their lack of promotion this year, they have been quite quiet on Pann this year. Their fans and antis have been very active during their comeback up to the year end though!
NCT
We noticed that they've slowly become Knets' new favorites recently! Each member has been growing their fanbase on Pann and since the US advancement, they've gained a lot of fans domestically!
The next Wanna One?
As much as some readers were annoyed with ProduceChoa in 2017, brace yourselves Broduce is back!!😂😂 We're putting this here with a lot of caution since we don't know how this might turn out
2. Top trending girl groups (in no particular order)
Red Velvet
They've been at the center of the talks for every comeback they had. Just like Wanna One and BTS, thanks to their heavy promotions this year, they've been really exposed on Pann (both positively and negatively). RV, BP and Twice are definitely the top 3 girl groups in Korea currently! (No surprise here ;))
Black Pink
Although they had very few comebacks compared to the 2 other groups, BP has been consistently relevant on Pann! Posts mostly come from Jennie's solos as well as fawning over their visuals.
And with the arrival of today's news, the trend will probably last for a while ;P
Twice
Twice's reputation has been growing to become more and more positive on Pann (from what we noticed!) compared to previous years :) Knets have been commending their hard work and pretty looks the whole year!
STRONG CANDIDATES
We have no idea 😂
Initially we thought that Izone would become relevant with the arrival of P48, but we all saw how Pann welcomed them this year.
With BP, RV and Twice already occupying a huge spot on Pann, we really don't know what can happen in terms of girl groups next year, so you guys throw your guesses!
3 Top trending male idol (in no particular order)
Kang Daniel
All of Wanna One's members are super popular in Korea, but if you're still wondering why Kang Daniel literally holds Korea in his hands, you've been living under a rock😅😅
Jimin, V
V is ALWAYS trending on Pann, ALWAYS. As for Jimin, his "incident in Japan" aside, he's also been the most popular member in BTS when it came to popularity with the general public!
STRONG CANDIDATES
Cha Eunwoo
All he needs is more promotion and he will be able to seize Pann in his hands. With his drama this year, knets have been promoting extra hard on Pann throughout the months prior to and during his drama!
Kang Dongho
Knets really have a soft spot for him, for some reason. Although we don't translate ALL of his trending posts (just like everyone else mentioned in this post, to avoid repetitive content), he really is the Nu'est W member who is the most appreciated among Pann netizens
Wanna One goes solo or BTS younger brothers?
As we all know, *MOST* of Wanna One members will go solo (sorry for bad wording!), so will they be able to dethrone Daniel? Or will Daniel keep his position!?!
We all know that Bighit has been preparing their new boy group. Pann has been kinda hyping them, so we'll keep an eye on that as well ;)
4. Top trending female idol (in no particular order)
Son Naeun
Really THE female idol who, despite her group's popularity (on >>PANN<<) and lack of promotion, has been consistently relevant on Pann. Every time she makes a public appearance, Knets are always talking!
Yeri
Yeri has been at the height of her "buzz" on Pann this year. Both following the passing of Jonghyun, to her "stage attitude" all the way to her regaining Knets' side back!
Jennie
Truly the most talked female idol on Pann this year, with her solo, her "stage attitude", pretty looks, cool outfits, etc. Everything she does brings her an article (negative or positive) on Pann!
STRONG CANDIDATES
Nayeon
Somehow we noticed that her posts have diminished from last year (with no particular reason), nonetheless, she is still very relevant on Pann!
Suzy
Every intsagram post, every pictorial gets her an article. But her lack of promotion kinda killed her momentum on Pann this year;;;
