[theqoo] [EXCLUSIVE] COMPANY APPLIES FOR TRADEMARK ON BTS' 'BORAHAE'

It has been confirmed that the new word 'borahae', created by the group BTS, has been applied for a trademark by a cosmetic company.

According to the patent database site “KIPRIS,” nail specialist L applied for the word “BORAHAE” as a trademark patent in September 2020. Product categories include soap, fragrance, oil, and cosmetics.

Bborahae' is a new word coined by BTS member V.

Looking at a light stick covered with purple during the 2016 fan meeting, V said, “Let's believe and love each other until the end, just like the last color of the rainbow, purple.” After coining the word,  Army all around the world and domestically started to express affection, support, and bonds for each other, using “I PURPLE U” and “BORAHAE”.

In 2018, when BTS spoke at the UN General Assembly [...] with the “LOVE MYSELF” campaign, UNICEF President Henrietta Fore quoted BTS saying “We here at UNICEF purple you!” and became a hot topic.

In addition, 'Borahae' has become a symbolic word for BTS as such 'Borahae' is quoted in the package of the 'BTS Meal', which was recently released in collaboration with the multinational fast food company McDonald's.

On the 28th, Sports Kyunghyang inquired about the reason and meaning of applying for the trademark “Borahae” to L's company, which responded "The CEO applied themselves, so the employees don't know the details. They're not here today, so please contact us again tomorrow".

1. What the...

2. They've applied for trademark already in September 2020, I don't see the big deal behind it... It's something that anyone can come up with. Of course, I know that BTS popularized the color purple, but there are so many companies out there who already has purple as their signature color and have a branding around it. They probably already had purple in mind so to say that they copied the wording 'Borahae' is a bit... 'Color'-hae~ is such a popular saying already, so I think that it's totally plausible

3. I don't think it's overinflated ego. The word itself was made by someone else yet they're the ones trademarking it?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Why are so many people trying to profit off Bangtan?ㅋㅋㅋ

4. I don't know if the business copied them or not, but to say that you would've never heard of the world 'borahae' if not from Bangtan is... Overinflated ego

5. Then Bighit should've done it first

6. I wouldn't say they copied it

7. I'm not even a fan and I know about BTS' borahae. They put it in every collab they do no?

8. Are the fans telling us that nobody can use the word Borahae aside from BTS?

9. But if BTS never thought of doing business with the word Borahae then who cares if other businesses use it?? I saw that they used it for McDo's collab too... It's a bit funny of course, but I don't see the harm in doing this

10. Where's the company? I'll boycott it

11. Borahae is just a word from purple, anyone can say "borahae" if they want to no....??????? Why are the fans acting like victimsㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

12. The company has no shame

13. To the people who don't know about Borahae, please look at the Empire State Building welcoming Bangtan with their purple light

14. It's the first time I'm hearing about Borahae in my life. What trendy word?ㅋㅋ

15. So many people without shame here, Borahae belongs to BTS

16. Of course if you're BTS fan, this will ruin your mood

17. Overreaction

18. The business doing this is hopeless and the people saying fans are overreacting are also hopelessㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

19. Of course it's possible that they didn't know but if they were to apply for a trademark I bet that the company did their research no???? They're thugs

20. Bangtan has been using purple with their collabo with Samsung and they've been consistently using it though?
