The problem from Knets perspective is that the drama is validating and rationalizing the abuse and legitimizing the excuse NSA gave by introducing a real spy, hence implying that they had the right to torture people.

[theqoo] 'SNOWDROP', WHAT'S SO UNFAIR ABOUT IT? [PILOT EPISODE]

The phrase “judge after you watch it” was put to shame. Contrary to JTBC's exhaustive explanation, many people showed concerns for the broadcasted 'Snowdrop' and the controversial synopsis remained the same.

Before talking about the controversial distortion of history, the level of completion of the drama should first lead to a lot of discussion. The story is divided into three main parts: the daily life of Eun Young-ro and Hosoo Women's University dormitory, the political story of Eun Chang-soo (Heo Jun-ho) and Nam Tae-il (Park Sung-woong), and the background story of the NSA led by Lee Kang-moo and Jang Han-na. Each scene has a different tone and manner, giving the impression of patching different works together. In addition, during the long running time of 90 minutes, the introduction of multiple characters and the flat development of the story felt rushed, reducing the interest and immersion of the viewers.


BLACKPINK's Jisoo's first acting challenge, which aroused curiosity, was disappointing. Her acting of her daily life shown in the dormitory was stable, but as soon as her romantic acting started after her first encounter with Im Soo-ho, she showed similar expressions of surprise in every scene. In particular, in the scene where she screamed at Im Soo-ho to avoid the police, her husky voice interrupted the delivery of lines. At the end of the drama, behind Im Soo-ho, who was running away from the NSA, was a background scene where you could see students fighting against the police while protesting in a democratic movement. In fact, "Dear Pine, Dear Pine (T/N: see post below)," a protest song representing the democratic uprising in 1987, was played in conjunction with the scene of Im Soo-ho running. Given this situation, the intention of the production team is questionable. The male protagonist, who was introduced as 'the spy sent to the South' on his introduction page, is hiding among the protesting students while the NSA is chasing after him. Hence, the production crew's claim that "the drama is based on a fictional background except for the setting of the military regime in 1987" became a lie.

In addition, fears about the beautification of the NSA have become a reality. When Lee Kang-moo, the team leader of the NSA, was chasing Im Soo-ho, he went to investigate the Hosoo Women's University dormitory and confronted the housemother of the dormitory Pi Seung-hee (Yoon Se-ah), which made viewers burst into laughter. Viewers have pointed out that the scene where the notorious head of the NSA got pushed out by the dormitory housemother because "there was no warrant" and that it was an "women-only area," was a distortion of history. Where in the world could the production team feel unfairly accused amid controversies that arose over past few months?
