[theqoo] SEVENTEEN MINGYU'S FINAL STATEMENT

Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment.

We are making our final statement on the matter regarding SEVENTEEN member Mingyu’s school days that was posted online.

First, our agency thoroughly checked the facts of this case without missing anything, and above all else, throughout this process, we approached the matter with the principle of making sure no one experienced any feelings of injustice. Therefore, we communicated directly with the writers of the online posts related to our artist, and when we learned that something was not true or a misunderstanding, we immediately reported those corrections [through the media].

Following our previous statement, we finally got in touch with the individual known as “B” through the writer of the post about the middle school incident, and over a period of time that extended beyond three weeks, we checked the facts of the story. Although there were parts of the incident that each person remembered differently, we made an effort to find points on which everyone agreed.

After personally meeting with the individual for a face-to-face conversation and investigating the truth by exchanging evidence and third-party testimony, we proceeded with discussions while understanding and being respectful of one another’s positions. Our artist [Mingyu] explained that in his middle school days, when his friends made jokes, he laughed along without giving it much thought. Therefore, our artist does not remember the incident described by the individual. However, he conveyed a message to the individual through our agency that even if it was unintentional, he is sorry if he hurt their feelings in any way. The individual also said that they do not wish for our artist to take any further responsibility regarding things that happened in the past.

Both the individual and the artist are hoping that the other does not suffer any additional damage due to this matter. Accordingly, we hope that the individual in question will not be harmed by any unnecessary speculation about this incident.

Finding the writers of the online posts and figuring out the facts of the case by examining the memories of many different people was a task that took a lot of time and hard work. Because it was work that could not be taken lightly, we handled every step of the process as carefully as we could. We apologize for releasing our final statement late because of this.

Mingyu apologizes for having given his fans cause for concern and worry just from the fact that this incident occurred, and he has relayed the following message:

“I apologize to the fans for having given you cause for concern. I did struggle while going through this experience. However, I also ended up learning that my actions could hurt someone, even if I did not mean it or remember it that way. It was also a time during which I reflected on what kind of attitude I should take on in the future. I’m a person who is able to work because of the love of my fans, and I realized once again that because of that, I need to become a more mature person so that I can repay [my fans] with positive energy. In the future, I will be more careful with my actions and work hard so that I can remain by my fans’ side for a long time.”

With this, our agency intends to wrap up this case regarding our artist’s school days. Mingyu will also resume the activities that he temporarily halted, and he will begin to return to carrying out his schedule as planned.

Additionally, our agency would also like to apologize for giving many people cause for concern due to this matter related to our artist.

Thank you.

[theqoo] SEVENTEEN MEMBER MINGYU'S ADDITIONAL NOTICE

Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment.

We would like to provide additional information on what we have been able to confirm regarding SEVENTEEN member Mingyu.

The agency contacted the person who claimed that our artist had stood by and laughed as one of their middle school classmates was being assaulted. Although the poster wrote as if they were a witness in order to remain anonymous, the poster had in fact been directly involved in the incident.

After listening to the poster’s account of events, the agency worked to confirm the facts with the people who were said to be involved in the incident, along with testimonies submitted to the agency by graduates of the school.

First, the artist clearly stated that he had no memory of the incident described by the poster and that he had never encouraged assault against another student by watching, laughing, and making derogatory comments. The poster named their attackers, so we checked the statements from the perpetrators as well as those students who were presumed to be witnesses to the incident. No one recalled the incident as happening as claimed by the poster.

The poster remembered a friend having been with them at the time of the incident and contacted them, but the friend replied that they also had no memory of the event. As there was no one who could recall the incident described by the poster, the poster contacted the agency to inform us that they would no longer continue the issue.

It is deeply concerning that this kind of claim was published online based only on someone’s memories, and that the issue is coming to an end because the memories of the event were shown to be uncertain. While it is fortunate that this and all previous incidents were shown to have no relation to our artist, it is troubling to think that there are many people who have received both serious and minor scars from this kind of claim, as well as the time and effort required to respond to these claims. However, during the agency’s discussions with the poster, it appeared that the poster had been scarred by abusive incidents that occurred during their student life that had nothing to do with our artist, so we decided to wrap up the incident without taking further action after the truth had been clearly revealed.

As of now, the agency has wrapped up all discussions and contact with those people who could be identified as relating to this issue. We will provide further updates if any additional information is made available.

[theqoo] PLEDIS STATEMENT REGARDING SEVENTEEN'S MINGYU

Hello.
This is PLEDIS Entertainment.

We would like to provide a statement regarding our company’s position on the claims posted online regarding SEVENTEEN member MINGYU’s behavior as a student.

First, please allow us to apologize for not issuing an immediate response.

After the claims were posted online, our company examined the information regarding the artist as well as the surrounding circumstances. During this process, we were able to verify that there were certain discrepancies between the information posted online and what we were able to verify from the artist.

With the continued surfacing of school violence-related issues across our society, our company determined that a clear verification of the facts must take priority, and we are carefully examining all the issues. We would like to apologize that this process has delayed our response.

As we have noted, our company has contacted the parties involved through a variety of methods to ascertain the facts of this issue. We are still in the process of reaching out, and we have spoken with numerous acquaintances of the artist including his classmates.

First, regarding what we have been able to verify to date, the claim that the artist abused a classmate with a disability is completely false.

The artist himself clearly remembered the person identified in the claim as the victim, and we were able to contact and discuss the issue with this person’s mother, who confirmed that the student was in fact on very good terms with the artist. She remembered the names of the students who did abuse the victim in school, and was able to verify this information for us immediately.

This person is currently leading an ordinary life as a private individual and feels uncomfortable that the past has been discussed publicly without consent. Despite this, the former classmate generously verified the facts for the sake of the artist.

Our company is carefully examining the other issues. However, as identifying the original posters of the allegations is difficult, and as some posters have expressed the desire not to be contacted, we are compelled to proceed with caution.

We respect the wishes of those who wish not to be contacted. If we are given the opportunity, we are always willing to meet anyone to examine the facts and carry out the necessary measures to address these issues.

We believe that the issue of school violence, a serious problem today, must be considered foremost from the victim’s point of view. However, in addition to the victim’s perspectives, we determined that measures must be carried out after the facts of the issues have been clearly verified.

As these problems occurred in the artist’s past when he was a student in elementary and middle school, we believe that it is necessary to carefully verify the facts and determine a course of action after examining these events as close to as they actually occurred as much as possible.

The artist himself has expressed his deep apology for the discomfort caused to all fans with the occurrence of this issue. He has temporarily suspended his activities, and has entrusted the company to carry out all necessary examinations of the facts.

Our company would also like to offer our sincere apology for the discomfort we have caused regarding our artist.

This statement is not an indication that we consider this issue to be resolved, and we will carry out the necessary measures as we verify the facts. However, we ask for your understanding as this is not a simple process and will take time.

Meeting those who have spoken out that they have been harmed, and verifying the facts and ensuring that they can be healed is the most important. In addition, please understand that we cannot consider any decision that may impact the entire life of the artist lightly and without verifying the facts. We promise that if any wrongdoing is found after this process, we will take clear and necessary measures.

Once again, please allow us to offer our apology in causing discomfort due to issues related to our artist.

1. Anyways, people didn't even care about this statement, it seems like they are just trying to drag this longer

2. What's up with people bashing this post?... It's possible that he wasn't the assailant so are people just randomly cursing at him?..ㅋ

3. Meanwhile, it's true that there are a lot of parts in this post that was well-writtenㅋㅋ

4. Just what was "well-written" about this post?

5. Why is Pledis acting like this? Anyways, seems like we'll have to wait longer

6. The part where it says "we are carefully examining all the issues. We would like to apologize that this process has delayed our response." was the most well-written part

7. Are the kids cursing at him here really in their right ming?ㅋㅋ

8. I was really wondering what Pledis was doing but seems like they were trying to solve this case. I hope that there are no more people wrongfully accused and that we get to know the truth soon

9. No but they said that they verified that the part where he cursed at a disabled was fake and were still confirming the rest so we don't know clearly if he was a school violence assailant or not yet. The kids who are screaming at him to withdraw just want to see someone ruin their life huh?

10. Let's just wait until everything is revealed

11. This was the best official statement yet. I can see that they are actively trying their best to verify the facts. They said that they will take action once they now the truth so let's just wait

[enter-talk] REGARDING SE*TEEN MIN*

I left my graduation certification / Psychiatric record certification in the previous article, so please check it. (t/n: https://pann.nate.com/b358043579)

Yes, I previously said that I will be writing additional information, so I am writing them now.

When I was in junior high school, I attended the 'ㅅ' academy on the second floor of the 'ㅎ' apartment complex in the back of the school.

There weren't many people [attending the academy] because the academy was small. All the same grade students were put in one class

Below is a simplified picture of the structure of the academy.

(No matter how much I looked for it, there was no picture.)

[theqoo] SEVENTEEN MINGYU SCHOOL VIOLENCE POST

Hello, I gained courage after seeing the S**jin incident recently so I'm writing this. I don't want to be entangled in troubles here and there and it's obvious that I'll end up fighting with a big company, so I planned to just live my life ignoring everything but seeing the S**jin school violent post, and before Naver gets rid of their real time search ranking, I made up my mind (to write this) after seeing everyone's comments telling me to reveal everything.

I and Kim M*ngyu-sshi went to the same middle school and high school. I wasn't someone who had a big presence in school and I was just your average student while Kim M*ngyu was involved here and there. He was good at soccer and he was one of the people in the iljin group.

First of all, on our way the first year of middle school, the scary kids + unnies would stop me in the way and forcefully take money from me. There was a moment where they would verbally attack me. They were probably bored or they needed to vent their anger on someone, so they would indiscriminate me, verbally abuse me, push my head, etc. These were some light abuse. I was too scared so I cried. But there was someone who's been just watching all these instances smiling. Sometimes, they would throw a Cola cap to my face from 4-5 meters away.
The person who was laughing was Kim M*ngyu. I still remember vividly the words he said back then.

"F*ck, that's f*cking funny"

He probably smoked cigarettes since he was in the 1st grade of middle school, because there were 20 girls and guys who gathered together, but they were often scolded by teachers during lunchtime, when they went over the school wall, during recess, after school, during school hours, etc.

I don't need to comment on his drinking. At that time, iljins would brag about drinking alcohol so... you can hear them all the time at school (bragging about drinking).

Also, during my 3rd year of middle school, Kim M*ngyu was casted in front of our school by Pl*dis and got in by auditioning. After that, he texted me once. At that time, we weren't in the same class but I think that he went around to ask for my number. The message I received said "I'm going to the practice room but I don't have my money to pay my transportation fee" and he asked me if I could collect 5,000 won by tomorrow.

People who are born in '96, '97, '98 and '99 would know but the thing that scared people the most at that time weren't the parents or the teachers, it was the iljins and the sunbaes. Also, I've seen that in that 20-people group, some kids would do a 90 degree bow when they saw Kim M*ngyu.. Of course,  there was no way for me to refuse his request, so I said "yes" and that's what he replied me:

"Once you collect the money, don't come look for me in my class. Make sure you call me or send me a message. Don't ever come to my class". But nonetheless, he started to manage his image afterwards. Even if I try to collect as much money as I could, I couldn't gather more than 3,000 won and a few cents. So I thought that I could give him at least that much.

I was going to send him the money through messaging during the break time, but I didn't have AL (the payment system we used back then) so I couldn't send him the money so I ended up going to look for him in his class.

When he saw me, he was startled and he brought me to the stairs that were connected to the roof and told me angrily
"I told you to make sure not to come and look for me, why did you come?
How much did you collect?
You couldn't find more than this?
Ah I get it, go"

I remember him saying only these 4 sentences. Seeing how I can still vividly remember everything like this made me realize how much of an impact his words were to me.  After that, 1 year later, Kim M*ngyu sent me a Facebook message without even being my friend on FB wishing me a happy birthday. I never changed my account so I still have his message.

Also, Cyworld revived again so I'll share the pictures in the comments.

[enter-talk] HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS INTERVIEW FROM INKIGAYO YESTERDAY?

ITZY's Yeji took a step back but he thought that she was falling down so he was trying to catch her... so heart fluttering...

I was at yesterday's broadcast and I was surprised to see Mingyu doing a 90 degree bow to rookies... when he came to do VeriVery's interview, he bowed 90 degree to all his sides. If not for his clothes, you wouldn't have been able to tell who was the sunbae and who was the hoobae

2. [+77, 0]
Because of his schedule, there are a lot of times where Mingyu has to miss his MC, but seeing his skills improve, how he treats the staffs and the performers for 1 year and 7 months, I understand why he's been an MC for so long. First of all, he's so good at MCing, he covers up the little mischaps here and there well too. He has aegyo towards the staffs and is polite. The way he treats the performers is also jjang. It's also impressive how he familiarizes himself with the come back teams' choreographies. He really doesn't slack off. The jimmy jib's PD-nim said that he had no plans in switching Mingyu out as an MC

Back then, during an interview with WJSN, it was Luda's turn to talk but they got confused with the order and there was a moment of silence and Mingyu said "Luda-sshi~?" it was f*cking heart fluttering ㅜㅜㅜㅜ

5. [+22, 0]
I f*cking like Kim Mingyu, he's f*cking handsome f*ck

6. [+22, 0]
My heart is fluttering, Kim Mingyu ㅜㅜ

So heart fluttering... the fact that Yeji is unaware of this is even more heart fluttering
