It’s not like Yuji betrayed them or anything. She had a separate contract. Hani, Junghwa and LE were with Shinsadong Tiger while the rest were with another company. But since they weren’t doing well at first, she got taken out of the group. So for the members who got taken out, they had no other choice than to debut with Bestie. Also, Yuji was the one to encourage Hani to give up being a singer and to debut together in China instead.  Hani also said that Yuji unnie held her together and is always mentioning her.

Am I the only one who liked Yuji the most during Who’s That Girl? She was so talentedㅋ

Yuji studied at the Seoul Institute of Arts University and she’s seriously good at singing so it was a shame that she couldn’t hit bigㅠㅠ looks like she’s doing musicals now. It suits her

Just like the best reply says, EXID members were under 2 separate companies and they put their own trainees together to make a girl group. Since they weren’t doing well, Bestie’s company took their members out.  So then EXID became a 3-members group and they later added Solji and Hyelin and became 5. Then they shot to fame with Up and Down.. It’s nice to see that they are doing well so I hope that they hit even bigger
