"I'll discipline you" Beat him with a bamboo stick for over 2 hours and left him to die
At a temple in Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, a mother in her 60s beat her son in his 30s for 2 hours and 40 minutes, neglected him for 50 minutes and he eventually died. The prosecution started an investigation on the case.
The Gyeongsangbuk-do Cheongdo Police Department announced on the 28th that it handed over the 65-year-old woman Mrs. Kim, who killed her 35-year-old son Mr. Kwon on August 28 last year, to the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office for suspicion of lethal injury.
On that day, according to the Gyeongbuk Police Agency, a report was received in August of last year that Kwon died from breathing difficulties at a temple in Iseo-myeon, Cheongdo-gun. He was studying for a public official examination at this temple. After the incident was reported, the fire department was dispatched, but after realizing the incident, they tried to rush him to the hospital but he died.
Kwon's death was not simply due to shortness of breath. There were traces of being beaten all over his body. It is known that the 119 paramedics who were dispatched to the scene at the time also stated that they had identified severe bruises on the man's body.
As a result of the police investigation, Mrs. Kim was revealed to have beaten her son with a bamboo stick, saying, "I will discipline you" in the living room on the first floor of the temple from 4:30 pm to 7:10 pm. She then left him neglected after the beating. Mrs. Kim called 119 only after 8 pm. She had left his injured son unattended for about an hour.
Mrs. Kim reportedly stated that "My son, who failed the civil service examination, was almost at the brink of being forced out of the temple for violating the rules of life and behaving inappropriately, so I hit him to discipline him. My intention wasn't to kill him."
During the three and a half hours of the crime, there were three witnesses, including a monk. All of them were investigated for not stopping or reporting Kim's actions.
The prosecution plans to investigate all of the suspicions, such as whether Mrs. Kim was aware of the possibility of his son's death, along with the specific motive of the crime, etc.

1. Is that really his blood-related mother.....?
2. (T/n: someone pasted a new report on the case)
It was his mother who took Kwon to the temple after he failed the civil service exam 4 times.

"My son's mother told him "Because you failed the exam again, go live in the temple to get a wake up call." and brought him there. "
The father is suspecting that it is not an accident.

"(The monk told his wife) that there are 7 ghosts at this time. He said 'I will give you 1 million won for every ghost that you get rid off' so she'll be able to get 7 million won..."
However, this temple, where a large number of believers live in, is strangely registered as a 'bathroom' and an 'office' on the official documents.
Moreover, the main monk and two other believers did not take any action even after seeing the violence.

"The day my son arrived (to the temple), they signed up for a (driver)'s insurance. I personally think it's a planned murder, insurance fraud."
However, the mother is insisting on the fact that "I have nothing to do with this. I regret the crime"
But when questioned about why she left her son neglected for 1 hour after beating him, she said "Please contact my lawyer".
The monk said "The driver's insurance was given to all believers/practitioners, and the insurance money was intended to be given to the bereaved family."
The monk also stated "Are you implying that we called the mother so that we can kill her son? People who come and go from to the temple also go to the insurance company. That's why we made one (for him).
3. Oh my god... A man in his 30s should've been able to protect himself though...
4. Hul this feels like insurance fraud... Why would they sign him up for insurance on the day he arrives to the temple.. The son is so pitiful ㅠㅠ
5. When I saw this in the news, I felt like the insurance amount was problematic and those monks don't seem normal either
6. ㅠㅠ The son could've probably retaliate so just how hard did the mother hit him..I pity himㅠㅠ
7. They were all grown adults, this is crazy
8. Hitting someone for 2 hours 30 minutes...?
9. His life is such a pity, of course if he had a mom like that she probably sucked the life out of him
10. How can an elderly mom beat her 30 years old son to death...
