(T/N: for context, Singles Inferno is a dating show that's booming in Korea/internationally right now. When they were introducing the candidates, there's a girl called Shin Jiyeon who appeared and some of the male candidates said that he likes girls like her who has fair skin)
(When describing the male candidates' ideal types they say "they're literally describing a child" & "pale innocent looking women")
To be honest, I can imagine foreign fans feeling hurt if people mention fair skin or whatnot but unlike the US or Canada, it's not like Korea was very diversified when it comes to races. So when they say "fair skin", they are only describing Korean people... I don't think it's right for them to call us racist because of that..
Honestly speaking, it's impossible that America's culture is the same as us when it comes to this concept. They have so many races interacting with one another. When it comes to Korea or East Asian countries, we don't have a that many races here... so of course all our country will reflect our own view on races and cultures.
I don't think that a country that gets to experience so many cultures can say anything about this issue. In our country, we don't easily see a black or white person in the streets. It's to the point that when we do run into one, they are fascinating to us. No but f*ck, I'm saying we only run into them seldomly, so do we have to think about them and live up to their standards all the time? No but, when someone asks us about our ideal types, should we respond "ah~ if it's Koreans, then I like pale skin~ but if it's white people, I like tanned skin~"? Also, when white people go on TV and say "ah, I like women with a tan", nobody calls them out for racism??? The double standards are solid. F*ck, they never say anything when people mention dark skin but when fair skin is mentioned, we get f*cking hated on. Just thinking about it makes me so mad
Also, the way we interpret "fair skin" and "bright and innocent" is way different than how foreigners interpret it. When we mention "innocent", we're talking about someone who looks pure like Suzy. I've never watched any p*rn in my life so saying that I'm describing a child is just not it? It makes me so mad that they are spinning this and making it seem like we're fetishizing an underage kid.
Anyways...ㅜ what do you guys think?

But to some extent, our country does fetishize underage kids. There are no other countries aside from KR-CH-JP and other SEA k-pop fans who like adults who act like kids and who speak with a lisp and whatnot

Then is loving to tan in a foreign country considered racism too?.. if we changed the positions, I bet that they would find it ridiculous too3. [+177, -7]
Saying something like this in our country is so universal that I'm seriously shockedㅋㅋㅋㅋ We're not saying that people with fair skin look innocent but that we like people with fair skin AND who look innocent

I'm not sure about back then but nowadays, the kids who show their inferiority complexes towards fair skin for no reason sound exactly like them;;;;; they hate it more than anyone else when people say that they like fair skinㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

But ever since Korea made the Anti-appeasement steles (T/N: monuments built in Korea to ostracize Westerners in the 19th century), we've always considered fair skin as a beauty trait. Overseas, Asians had that "yellow" image but actually, our skin is pretty fair universally speakingㅋㅋㅋㅋ liking fair skin didn't come from white people, it's always been like that (T/N: OP is arguing that Korea preferred light skin even when the country was ostracizing foreigners so the preference didn't come from white people)
[enter-talk] THIS FREEZIA SEQUENCE IS F*CKING FUNNY
Singles Inferno's Song Ji-ah
"If not, then what's the reason?"
"Ah, so you thought about it?
Ok, I'll take care of you"
When she's meeting with fans
"You're making me shy for liking meㅋㅋㅋ"
"I'll read it alone"

But honestly, watching the program makes me f*cking want to save Freezia. Personally, all the men are so-so... if I'm looking at other similar programs, the men here have above average looks but the more I watch this, the more I realize that their looks aren't the issue here...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

If she was on Love or Money, she could've at least won some money ㅠ (T/N: Love or Money = dating show where participants are either in for love or money)

But in the first episode, she said that none of them were her ideal type no?ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Kim Hyeon Joon is so meh... Shihun is at least better than me but it feels like Ji-ah doesn't see him as a man...
